Infinix Note 5 Review:Why you Should get this Amazing Device

The smartphone has been rated the best Infinix phone compared to its predecessors. It’s an higher upgrade of the that was launched a year ago.
Note 5 contains some amazing features like the Android One and FHD+ infinity display. These and other awesome features will make you fall in love with the device already.

Design

Infinix Note 5 is a well-crafted phone that has been designed to look pleasing to the eyes and comfortable in the palm of your hands.

The physical home button, sported in the immediate past Note series, has been completely removed to make room for the FHD+ infinity display. The only visible features on the top of the display are the 16MP camera, flash LED, earpiece speaker and notification LED — all horizontally arranged.

It’s interesting to see that the back panel is extremely shiny and glossy but unbelievable, it’s made of plastic and not glass as you may first assume.
I love that the device is way lighter than its predecessor and has been carefully crafted to make fingerprint smudges unnoticeable on it. This way, your phone will be easy to carry in your pocket and always look neat.
Also noticeable on the back panel is the 12MP camera placed on the top left corner alongside a dual flash, and the fingerprint sensor sitting on the center. This arrangement is totally different from that of the Note 4.

Display

Note 5 has a large 6-inch FHD+ display, which is better than the HD+ display found on Hot 6 pro and Hot S3. The device features a 2.5D glass with an excellent screen to body ratio and rounded corners.
The 18:9 aspect ratio boasts of 480PPI density. This offers a pleasing view when watching movies or playing games. A screen guard has been included in the box to protect this device from cracks

Software

This device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo right out of the box. But unlike the previous Infinix phones, Note 5 is based on Android One not XOS (more on that later). It is powered by an octa-core Helio P23 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. This makes processing of information on the device pretty fast.

Battery and Storage

It packs a large capacity battery of 4500mAh, which Infinix Mobility says can last up to 3 days
On the storage, the smartphone comes in two variants; a variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM and another variant with 4GB and 64GB ROM. Your budget and activities you carry out on your phone play a major role in the decision of which variant to go for.

Camera

As expected, the camera is a key selling feature of the device. It has a 12MP back camera with 1.25µm for excellent images in lowlight conditions without flash.

It’s also accompanied by a dual LED flash for brighter images when the need arises. The usual settings like professional mode and portrait selfie mode are included on the primary shooter only.
Selfie lovers aren’t left out. If you’re a selfie lover, you’re even more considered because the selfie camera is greater at 16MP and also empowered with an LED flash.

Android One

Infinix Note 5 comes with Android Oreo OS based on Android One.
Whether you call it a stock Android or pure Android, Google says Android One only comes with essential apps. This means that it has no bloatware (unessential apps that are often found on new phones).
With the Android One pre-installed on this phone, you’re definitely going to say goodbye to the usual XOS UI found on Infinix phones. Also, you’ll have to download most apps from Playstore yourself.

What does the Android do?
  • Better battery optimization when the phone is in your pocket or purse. This helps to increase battery life
  • Unlimited photo storage from Google photos
  • Better security with regular Google certified updates
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The AI is embedded into Google assistant to offer features like Google lens, which tells you what you’re looking at. It tells you things like texts, barcodes, products, books, notable buildings, and so on.

This wonderful device is available for #65,000 but you can get it at a lesser price of on Jumia here

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus Review:A Cheap and Durable Phone for Rugged Users

Pros: The Samsung Grand Prime Plus has a large screen display and gives a comfortable holding experience, has LTE and front camera with LED flash that turns out wonderful pictures.
Why you should buy it: Grand Prime Plus has an attractive build If you’re on budget, looking for a phone that doesn’t necessarily has to be a workstation too and want the most features on a single device then, this handset is perfect for you.
Samsung by a far margin has one of the most amazing feature phones and nearly stole 2016 with its Galaxy S7 Edge. But, the given budget of Galaxy Grand Prime Plus, the company has tried to done enough to provide maximum features in a single device like a 5-inch screen, 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera and 720p HD video capture, Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow), etc. Given the massive drop in price, their efforts needs to be commended
There are also many irksome features like a smaller battery and limited storage which no doubt helps Samsung hit this low price point. While there are several worthy competitors in this space, read this review (or skip to the conclusion) to find out is Galaxy Grand Prime Plus really worth it?

Display

Galaxy Grand Prime Plus has a 5.0-inch display, 144.8 x 72.1 x 8.9 mm dimensions with 540 x 960-pixel resolution which is pretty small for such a large screen. Though the phone has comparatively low pixel density wouldn’t affect the core abilities of the phone like text reading and social media use

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

It also has a micro USB v2.0 USB port for charging.

Performance

  • 4GHz quad-core Cortex-A53
  • 8GB of storage
  • 1.5GB of RAM
  • 256GB of expandable storage
The Samsung’s new device, considering its limitations is a good little performer. It booted up in about 25 seconds and felt responsive throughout. Its CPU is a middle end which is compatible to satisfy the simple daily use but would lag behind if the intensity of the work increases. This a low tier device and the combination of quad-core and large screen sounds impressive, but it really isn’t. It scored 565 on GeekBench 4 (single-core) and GeekBench 4 (multi-core), which is greater than its predecessor
The game performance on Grand Prime Plus is mid-level where any heavy game with 3D imaging that would make your head spin. The game graphics tend to go very weird, but the good news is that there are a lot of outfits optimize games for budget devices, so graphics are still engaging, if not the height of perfection.

Battery Life

Grand Prime Plus comes with 2600 mAh removable Li-ion in battery which isn’t terribly impressive on its own which will last a full work day given the battery is fully charged and the intensity of work is not too high. Unlike Samsung’s higher end devices, it charges a bit slow. It reaches from 0 to 100% in average 2.5-3 hours with the official charger that is provided in the box.
In our tests, Galaxy Grand Prime Plus on a fully charged battery took 8 hours to go back to 0% battery. In these 8 hours, the device’s GPS and Wifi were working alongside different social media applications like Snapchat, Facebook, and Twitter. Also, we made a few video and audio calls in the same time frame, browsed the internet, played a few heavy videos on Internet and finally watched a 3 hour long Nigerian movie and surprisingly it was completed without the battery dying at all. Although, the use of LTE on a fully charged phone with the continuous browsing reduced the battery time to mere 3-3.5 hours on average.

Camera

  • 8-megapixel rear camera
  • 720p HD video (30fps)
  • 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash
Considering the affordable price point, Galaxy Grand Prime Plus decent 8-megapixel photo captures are about the best you can expect, and that’s exactly what the user gets. While using the phone’s camera the auto focus was helpful  Also, the pictures captured outside or in natural light were better as compared to those in low-light with pretty much-degraded quality.
The front camera is not bad for taking decent selfies and has a LED flash which provides good lightening for the image even in the great indoors. Comparing the two cameras, the front facing camera takes the lead on the back camera as the selfie flash does provide a good picture.

The camera also has a few other features to play with while using the front camera, such as Skin Tone, Slim Face, and Larger Eyes. These features are there to enhance the beauty, but apart from lightening up the brightness and color, there wasn’t much difference. Also, there are many other filters for the user to play with.

Call quality and data

The call quality while testing the handset was pretty good. The calls were made indoors and outdoors to check the quality of voice we get in quiet and loud backgrounds and it was no surprise that Galaxy Grand Prime Plus worked just fine. The volume booster while listening to calls out on the street like many other phones in this range, amplifies the background with the audio too.
The smartphone has both 3G and LTE options and while testing the phone on data the sites resolved in acceptable lengths on time. The photos and videos were uploaded and downloaded with a slight delay as the low storage and multi-tasking turn to slow down the smartphone.

Other Features

The phone has many other exciting features like a power saving mode where you don’t need to download a third-party app to release the junk files and hibernate the apps when the battery is low. Also, it supports Samsung Knox and has a secure folder that can make sure your data is safe from tampering by anyone else. The device also features S bike mode for all the motorbike riders who can reply without stopping to check their phones.
